How to Use Backups & Restorations
At Media Giant Hosting, we take daily backups of all hosted websites to ensure your data is safe in case something goes wrong. If you ever need to restore your site from a previous backup, our support team is here to help.
How Our Backup System Works
✅ Automatic Daily Backups – We back up all hosting accounts once per day.
✅ 30-Day Retention – We store backups for up to 30 days.
✅ Full or Partial Restores – We can restore just your files, just your database, or both, but we cannot restore individual files from a backup—it’s an all-or-nothing deal.
Requesting a Site Restore
If you need to restore your website from a backup, follow these steps:
-
Contact our support team through a support ticket.
-
Provide the number of days back you want to restore your site (e.g., "Restore my site to how it was 5 days ago").
-
Specify whether you need:
-
Files only
-
Database only
-
Both files and database
-
-
Our team will restore your site and notify you once it’s completed.
⏳ Restoration Time: Most restores are completed within a few hours, but it may take longer depending on the size of your website.
Important Notes Before Restoring a Backup
-
Restoring a backup will overwrite your current website. Any changes made after the backup date will be lost.
-
Database changes will also be rolled back. If you have an active website with frequently updated content (such as orders, customer data, or blog posts), these may be lost during the restore.
-
We cannot extract individual files from a backup. Restoring files means rolling back all files to the selected backup date, and restoring a database means rolling back the entire database to that point in time.
Conclusion
We’ve got your back(ups)! If you ever need a restore, just contact our support team with how far back you need to go and whether you need files, databases, or both restored, and we’ll handle it for you. If you have any questions, check our Knowledge Base or open a ticket.
