Installing WordPress on Your Hosting Plan
Alright, so you’ve got yourself a shiny new hosting plan, and now you’re ready to throw WordPress on it like a punk rock sticker on a street pole. Good news: it’s easier than stealing WiFi from a coffee shop. Here’s the no-BS guide to getting WordPress up and running on your hosting plan with Media Giant Hosting.
Step 1: Log into Your Client Portal
You’ll need to get into your Media Giant Hosting Client Portal (because we make things easy and seamless). Log into your account—this is where the magic happens.
1. Go to My Services in your client area.
2. Select the Hosting Plan you want to install WordPress on (in case you have more than one).
Step 2: Install WordPress (Depends on Your Hosting Plan)
How you install WordPress depends on what kind of hosting plan you have. Choose the right path below:
For Standard Shared Hosting Plans:
If you’re on our standard shared hosting, you’ll use the Applications installer.
1. In your hosting controls, navigate to Applications.
2. Click Install New.
3. Find WordPress in the list of available applications and click the WordPress icon.
-
Fill out the required details in the form:
-
Domain: Select the domain where WordPress will be installed.
-
Database Name: Choose a name for your database.
-
Database Login: Create a username for database access.
-
Database Password: Set a strong password.
-
Database Prefix: Define a prefix for your database tables (default is fine, but changing it improves security).
-
-
Click Install and let it do its thing.
For Managed WordPress Hosting:
If you’re on our Managed WordPress Hosting plan, good news—you already have WordPress installed as soon as we provision your account. Along with that, you get our premium plugins, so you're ready to start building immediately.
If you want to install a fresh WordPress setup, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the WordPress Toolkit.
2. Click New Installation.
3. Fill out the installation details.
4. Click Confirm, and WordPress will be installed.
Migrating an Existing WordPress Site:
If you’re moving a WordPress site over, we make it easy (and free!). Simply export your existing site using the All-in-One Import/Export Wizard. We provide, at no additional cost, access to our unlimited license that allows you to import your site directly into the pre-installed WordPress system. No headaches, no extra fees—just seamless migration.
And just like that, WordPress is installed. Boom. You’re officially in the game.
Step 3: Access Your WordPress Site
Once the install is done, you’ll get a confirmation. To access your new site:
-
Visit
yourdomain.com/wp-admin
-
Log in with the admin username and password you set up during installation.
Forgot Your Login Info?
If you can’t remember your login credentials, here’s how to recover them:
-
Managed WordPress Hosting Clients: You can easily retrieve or reset your WordPress login info through the WordPress Toolkit in your client portal.
-
Shared Hosting Clients: Use WordPress’s Forgot Password functionality on the login screen. If you’re still locked out, reach out to our support team, and we’ll get you sorted.
Welcome to WordPress! Now go break something (or, you know, build a killer website).
Step 4: Secure & Optimize (Optional but Smart)
Before you get too wild with themes and plugins, take a moment to secure and optimize your site:
-
Enable SSL – Make sure your site is HTTPS so Google doesn’t treat it like an abandoned warehouse. In your Client Portal, enable Free Let’s Encrypt SSL.
-
Update Plugins & Themes – WordPress ships with default junk you don’t need. Trash what you won’t use and update the rest.
-
Set Up Caching – All sites are cached via NGINX on NVMe storage, ensuring fast load times. If you’re on our Managed WordPress Hosting, WP Rocket is included to further enhance optimization and speed. If not, installing a caching plugin can still help improve performance.
Final Thoughts
That’s it. WordPress is installed, and you’re officially on the road to building your online empire. Whether it’s a blog, a business site, or a shrine to your favorite punk band, WordPress gives you the tools to make it happen. Need help? Hit up our support – we’re here 24/7, but we expect you to at least try turning it off and on first.
Now go create something awesome.
